Self Protection, the law;
One can defend oneself when ones life is in danger but only using reasonable force and only when there are no safer alternatives to resolve the situation.
When to use martial arts?
Martial arts should not be used at all if one can help it, however the procedure recommended for this club is as follows:
1) Primarily try to avoid all possible confrontations through common sense.
2) If possible take the matter to the authorities so that the situation can be solved legally.
3) If in a situation where it is impossible to make contact with the authorities try to run away from the trouble.
4) If you are in a situation where your life is not in immediate danger shout to attract local attention and possible help. Alternatively, attempt to talk to your potential attacker to hopefully calm them down.
5) When an inevitable attack occurs only reasonable force should be applied. Remember that a registered martial artist will be at a disadvantage if in court and the attacker and defender were both unarmed. Address each situation as it arises and ensure that the force used is justifiable for that particular occasion. Remember the more you fight the less sympathetic the authorities will be towards you.
6) A good martial artist should be able to deal with difficult situations without fighting and make friends instead of enemies. Minimise confrontations through sensible behaviour, a responsible attitude and common sense.

The Ying Yang principle;
The Chinese believe that all forces are governed by the theory of Ying and Yang. One opposing the other no more or less than the other. Ying signifies darkness, cold, female, the moon, passive or sadness while Yang signifies brightness, warmth, male, the sun, active or happiness. Both good and evil must be in equilibrium thus one must not be more than the other, an excess of one can cause an imbalance. In the case of a human being the imbalance of Ying and Yang can bring about ill health. This is the fundamental theory in the development of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture.
