Black belt graduate level syllabus

BLACK / WHITE BELT – At this level the meaning of black belt is the opposite to white, signifying space, universal knowledge, maturity and proficiency in the art.  The scholar should now be emptying the cup and preparing to fill it with more knowledge.  The tree now drops its seeds so new lives can begin.  The belt also indicates the wearer’s imperviousness to darkness and fear

SEMI-CONTACT FREE SPARRING

Three rounds (Three minutes each)

FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:

-  Martial art project of approximately 2000 words

-  Trainer qualification

-  Minimum coaching time

1) FIRST DEGREE  - General  Kung fu Studies Part 1

Module 1 WING CHUN

Empty Hand Forms

Yong Chun Gei Pun Shan Shou, Fundamental 12 forms of Yong Chun

Applications

One-step self defence – Demonstrate techniques from each form

The attacker will pull back into sparring stance, step forward and attack with obverse punch.  Defender starts in parallel stance.  Proper consideration should be given to distance and timing.

Module 2 GOLDEN BELL SHAOLIN SCHOOL OF KUNG FU:

Empty Hand Form

12 Vital Kick Sequence

In each combination the initial stopping kick should be executed with the leading leg.

1)               Low then high section double side kick, back thrust                        
7)               Front kick, combined flying front then side kick

2)               Front kick, jumping front followed by hook double kick           
8)               Side, reverse turning, turning, reverse turning kick

3)              Double low section side kick, back thrust
9)               Side kick, put down, flying side kick same leg

4)               Side kick, turning kick, oblique / twisting kick                                                
10)             Side kick, holding knee strike, holding knee strike

5)               Turning kick, side kick with same leg, back thrust                               
11)             Jumping triple front kick

6)             Side kick, side kick, high section side kick
12)            Side kick, inward jumping typhoon kick

Applications

One-step self defence – Demonstrate all 12 techniques

Both sides will pull back into fighting stance.  The attacker steps forward and attacks with obverse punch.
